The Role of Diet

As we start to age many of us will begin to experience problems with Blood Pressure (BP), or as it is termed in the medical world – Hypertension.  However the diet which you choose to consume can have quite an influence on this process.  Mother Nature has provided us with some amazing ingredients in the food we eat which can help counter the aging process, and in the case of blood pressure issues, help the body to stay healthy and in balance.

I have always endeavoured to eat healthily and for the most part make wise food choices, however over the past number of years I have started to realize that some of those choices were not as healthy as I thought.  With the advent of GMO foods, the heavy use of pesticides to promote ever higher yields and injudicious use of hormones and antibiotics to fatten up

How I can help

In this section I am going to talk about my experience with a number of different natural ingredients found in everyday foods and share with you their role in helping maintain healthy blood pressure.

Of course, the key to managing blood pressure is in itself more complex than simply eating the right types of food.  So elsewhere on the site I will be looking at other aspects and factors which can influence blood pressure readings.  But in every case my quest is to share with you some of the natural remedies for high blood pressure.

But, as I am sure you have heard more than once in your lifetimes, “You are what you eat!  And a sensible diet offering the body the right kinds of nourishment – in the form of vitamins, minerals and micronutrients – will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the healthy blood pressure relationship in a positive way.  The goal is to target those foods which offer the best nutritional value, and at the same time avoid the foods which can actually have a detrimental effect on blood pressure.  This is indeed another area: foods to avoid which I plan to address as a later date here on the site.

If any of you have encountered success (or even a lack of success) in managing your BP through diet change by incorporating specific foods I would really welcome your comments below.
