Best Digital Blood Pressure Monitor? Review of LifeSource UA-767 Plus.

My Digital Blood Pressure Monitor Review.

Product:  LifeSource UA-767PV One Step Auto Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor with Medium Cuff

Price:     $48.99 USD

Cheapest place to buy:   Amazon.com

Warranty:  Lifetime on device and cuff

Personal  Rating:    4.5 out of 5

If you have been diagnosed with Hypertension (high blood pressure) you are going to want to own a digital blood pressure monitor for use at home.  This way you will be able to keep an eye on your blood pressure, and by taking regular readings, get a good idea of what is really going on with it.

The monitoring device I have been using at home for the past 5 years is a LifeSource digital blood pressure monitor: LifeSource UA-767PV One Step Auto Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor with Medium Cuff  This machine provides essential readings (systolic/diastolic and pulse) and uses a one step auto-inflate technology.

In my review I am going to highlight what it is about the LifeSource UA-767 plus which makes it the best home blood pressure monitor in my opinion.

My personal favourite features:

  • The blood pressure monitor has undergone and passed a Clinical Validation study to determine its performance and accuracy.  This guarantees a correct reading each time.
  • The LCD display is very easy to read with dark numbers on a light grey/green background.  There is also a large  ‘Start’  button.
  • It can hold up to 30 readings in its memory
  • The device will give you an average BP reading based on all the readings stored in its memory – very useful when you want to know your average BP measurement over several days, or weeks.
  • The irregular heartbeat function not only alerts you if your heartbeat is arrhythmic, but also enables the machine to give blood pressure and pulse measurements even in the presence of an irregular heartbeat.
  • Both the machine and the cuff carry a Life Time Warranty

Omron 10 series BP monitor

Admittedly the LifeSource UA-767 Plus I am recommending does not come with a whole bunch of extra bells and whistles.  For example it is not equipped with wireless technology, as compared to say another popular and recommended brand – the Omron 10 series.

But it is the sheer simplicity of use, in addition to its reliability, which I particularly love!

In my research of those devices offering the wireless capability, I have seen several documented issues with failure to transfer data to tablets, iPads and other smart phones, notably Android devices.  Another point of concern is that of privacy with the App needed when using a bluetooth connection.  You have to sign up for an account with the device server and, as one unhappy reviewer wrote:

“They share this data and any other medical data you provide with just about anyone

(according to their privacy statement) including advertising partners…”

Conclusion

If you are looking for an inexpensive, easy to use, reliable digital blood pressure monitoring device which comes with strong Customer Support, then you cannot go wrong with the Life Source UA-767 plus model.  Customer satisfaction with this product on Amazon.com is 82% combined rating of 4 and 5 stars.

Based on my personal experience with this model I would rate it 4.5 out of 5.  The one drawback is that this model does not come with an AC adapter plug which would have given it an extra star.  However you can order an inexpensive compatible adapter online.

NOTE:

It is very important to order the LifeSource UA-767 Plus with the correct cuff size.  The product I am recommending comes with a Medium Cuff (fits arm diameter in the range 9.4″ – 14.2″) .

When ordering you can also select the Small Cuff option (range 5.1″ – 7.9″) for an extra $4.95.

But those of you requiring the Large Cuff (range 14.2″ – 17.7″) will need to order a compatible cuff for at an extra price.

Given my experience with Customer Service at LifeSource, which has been positive – they replaced free of charge a defective cuff on my device, it may be possible to contact them at (toll free) 1-888-726-9966 and request a Large Cuff at a discounted rate.  I cannot make any promises on this, but it is certainly worth a try!
